A playground saying that will lead you to higher conversion rates

Cross your heart, and hope to…

Landing pages are meant to be highly relevant to user needs based on the ad or link that sends the traffic. If you’re unsure about what should be on your landing page, or how to increase your conversion rates, just look at the ad (or link) that is driving traffic to the page. What promise does the ad make? The goal for your landing page will always be to fulfill that promise.

There’s a famous playground saying here in the States (I’m not sure if it’s popular elsewhere… ?) about making and keeping promises. When a child makes a promise to another child, the second child will answer, “Do you cross your heart and hope to die, stick a needle in your eye?”  Example:

Joey: I promise to give you the cookie my mom packed in my lunch, if you let me cut in line.

Bobby: Cross your heart, hope to die, stick a need in your eye?

Joey: Yes!

Gross, but effective. Now Joey has to give Bobby that cookie he promised, because if he doesn’t he has to… well, you get it.

Take the promises inherent in your ads and links seriously. Hold your landing pages to this playground law, and you may see a nice bump in your conversion rate. And that is definitely not child’s play!
