Friday, May 28, 2010 at 02:17PM Not many companies are creating and optimizing mobile landing pages yet, but our latest #CROchat shows that the interest is there from online marketers.
If you’re ready to dip your toes into the mobile market, or if you’re just thinking about it - here are 10 tips for launching and optimizing mobile landing pages (in no particular order).
- Forget that “pinch and zoom” exists— create a 1 finger experience
- Test load time carefully - mobile users are very impatient
- There are over 20,000 different mobile devices out there, check your analytics to see which types are accessing your page the most, and optimize for those
- Keep your forms extra short
- Keep in mind the ‘click-to-call’ feature on many phones
- Navigation in a small space must be more contextual - it doesn’t need to be ‘go anywhere/from anywhere’
- For web-based applications, give the option to switch between mobile and standard views (mobile versions are sometimes too stripped down and visitors need the features of the full site)
- Segmentation will allow your mobile content to be more focused, just like on larger screens

- If you are going to use icons instead of text, make sure to use universal/intuitive symbols otherwise you risk confusing the user
- AVOID FLASH!
