Think outside the website

Since the majority of your web marketing landing pages are independent of your primary website, it’s safer to try bold, innovative ideas with them.

Landing experiences don’t have to match side-by-side or preserve the paradigms of your main website—each one is a clean slate. You should be willing to test everything and anything to continually get new learning and find winners. This creative freedom can be inspiring, revitalizing the energy of your online marketing. Let’s take a look at some ways you can use “out of the box” landing experiences to engage and convert respondents.

1. Video
Do you have a really cool product? Why not show your potential leads what it does and how it works—before asking them to sign up for a free trial. You can choose to engage respondents with video pre-conversion, or can be used on the “thank you” page to provide users with relevant content that relates to their conversion. Or, follow ion’s lead and offer on-demand webinars and/or product demo as fulfillment.

2. Flash
Post-click Flash gives you a competitive advantage that can ultimately result in higher conversions. This type of power creative can be leveraged to significantly raise the user experience bar, while engaging prospective customers longer and more effectively.

While elaborate Flash animation is impressive, we aren’t quite recommending it for your landing pages. Rather, use Flash to develop richer, more engaging and compelling post-click experiences.

3. Device-optimized landing pages
With 13% of the mobile phone market represented by Smartphones, and over 10 million iPhones in the hands of savvy buyers—you may want to consideroptimizing your landing pages for mobile devices.

We encourage you to put your thinking caps on. Brainstorm ideas for pushing the envelope creatively and see what happens!
